A. Ideally, a bride should have her dress ordered 10 – 12 months prior to her wedding. It is recommended to have the bridesmaids and mothers dresses ordered 6 months prior. If there are any delays with manufacturing or a problem with your order, there will be time to accommodate it and still have time for alterations.
A. We do recommend and greatly appreciate scheduled appointments. It is very important to us to give you our full attention. If not, we will gladly set up an appointment that is convenient for you and your family. Evening and Saturday appointments tend to book up quickly. An appointment will run approximately 1 ˝ to 2 hours. Also, if you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment please call us as soon as possible. A. We pride ourselves in providing you with the best customer care and service. Our bridal consultants are professional, caring and knowledgeable, ready to help you with any of your bridal needs. Being authorized dealers for our specific designers insures quality, authenticity and support from the company. By ordering online you run the risk of numerous problems such as wrong dye lots, defective garments, used garments, or not receiving your garment in time for the event. Many of these sites boast of huge discounts but not disclosing that you are purchasing copies not authentic designer garments. These are common risks that we see daily from customers who take the chance ordering from an online, unauthorized, faceless shop. Saving a little in the beginning may cost you a lot more in the end.
A. Yes, we do. The tuxedo company that we work with offers a wonderful online site allowing you and your fiancé to create that special look from the comfort of your own home. www.jimsformalwear.com
A.
We do provide alteration services for our Brides and Mothers but you are
not required to do so. You may use your own tailor or seamstress. We can provide a
list of area seamstresses for alterations for bridesmaids, flowergirls and clearance dresses upon request.
Q. Do I need to schedule an appointment to have my alterations done or can I just come in?
A. The seamstresses work very specific days and hours. It is very important to schedule an appointment. Alteration appointments book up very quickly especially during peak season. In order to accommodate your schedule also, it is very important to call us and reserve an appointment as soon as possible. Ideally bridal alterations should begin at least 3 months prior and mothers dresses at least 6 weeks prior. It is also very important to be on time. Their appointments run much like a doctor’s office. If someone is late, it will cause delays to her other scheduled appointments which follow.
A. You must have your exact shoes and undergarment that will be worn with the dress. The seamstress cannot fit you properly without them. Changes during the alteration process will only incur additional alteration fees, delays and improper fit.
A. We know it’s an exciting time for you and everyone participating in your special day, but it is very important to have a calm and quiet atmosphere during your alteration appointment. Ideally, sharing this time with one or two of your close family members or friends works well. The seamstress will want to work closely with you and be able to ask questions, listen and accommodate any requests or customizations that you may want. Having that one- on-one time with you may be interrupted by too many distractions. She needs to focus her full attention on you and your needs in order to fit you properly.
